40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life is an intensive effort designed to raise awareness, save lives, bring healing, and lead our nation to repentance for the sin of abortion through three components: Prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil, and community outreach. Hundreds of cities nationwide and internationally join in simultaneous prayer and vigils. It is based on the Scripture, 2 Chron.7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." In Syracuse, Christians unite in prayer each fall and spring and conduct a peaceful prayer vigil in front of Syracuse Planned Parenthood, from 7:00am-7:00pm, each day of the campaign. For more information, please call: Jeanie Owens (956-7772) or Shannon Guy (200-0255) or visit our website at Syracuse40daysforlife.com. The national website is National40daysforlife. All are welcome!

National Life Chain

Annually, on the first Sunday in October, LIFE CHAIN invites the churches in each city and town across North America to stand on a designated local sidewalk and pray for 90 minutes while holding approved pro-life sign messages.

National Right to Life

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) is the oldest and largest pro-life organization in the United States, with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters nationwide. The group works through legislation and education to work against abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and assisted suicide. It was founded in 1968 and is a non-partisan political group.

Catholic Priests for Life

Priests for Life has come to signify two distinct but related movements within the wider pro-life movement. On one level, as described below, Priests for Life refers to a very specific effort to galvanize the clergy to preach, teach, and mobilize their people more effectively in the effort to end abortion and euthanasia. On another level, Priests for Life represents a family of ministries that reach and enrich every aspect of the pro-life movement, for clergy and laity alike, in a wide variety of activities.

Anglican Priests for Life

Anglican Priests for Life is open for membership to all Priests of the Anglican tradition who support the cause of the sanctity of life through daily witness and prayer. It is asked that our members serve in the pro-life movement with diligence in prayer and witness. We are a movement of peace and request that you daily pray one of our prayers listed on our web page or one that is similar. Priests for Life make a commitment to always include at each Mass a prayer for the unborn. Our Priests preach at least twice a year on the cause, including on pro-life Sunday in January.

Care Net

Care Net, and its network of more than 1,100 pregnancy centers, offers hope to women facing unplanned pregnancies by providing practical help and emotional support. In the words of TIME magazine, pregnancy centers are the "kind, calm, nonjudgmental" face of the pro-life movement. Free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, abortion information, parenting classes, and material assistance are just some of the many services offered that empower women to choose life. As an umbrella organization, Care Net seeks to promote, prepare, and plant pregnancy centers across North America.

Birthright

Birthright takes a "non-moralistic, non-judgmental" approach toward helping women through their pregnancy dilemmas. Birthright is a fully independent organization, not affiliated with any church or public agency. An estimated 28,000 women make their first visit to a Birthright chapter every month. Birthright also operates a 24-hour North American hotline at 1-800-550-4900.
